The Affordable Coast Fund is a grant program established in 2007, that addresses two critical issues facing Maine’s year-round island and coastal communities: the lack of affordable housing, and diminishing saltwater access for those who depend upon fishing for their livelihoods. Two grant streams—Affordable Housing Grants and Working Waterfront Grants—will provide a total of $235,000 in 2007 to help Maine communities, families, and fishermen acquire the property and the technical assistance they need and to promote community sustainability.
